The first of two discussion Phone / Zoom calls will occur tomorrow, June 6 at 12:00 noon.
During this discussion call, members will learn about and can discuss the proposed bylaws for the organization to be voted on at the Annual Member Meeting. However, per the amendment process in our current bylaws, we cannot accept changes or amendments after they are read into the record, which happened at the May 16th special meeting of the SARDASA Board. Keep reading to learn how to access the this discussion call.
Throughout this year a subcommittee of the SARDASA Board has been working hard to envision a more streamlined and functional organizational structure for SARDASA, which is both able to meet our mission of promotion, education, and preservation of American folk dance and also manage the Old Pueblo Dance Center. Toward that end, the subcommittee revised the SARDASA Bylaws, and the proposed bylaws are posted to the SARDASA website at the bottom of this webpage: https://www.sardasa.org/about-us/organization/2-uncategorised/44-2020-proposed-bylaws.html
The proposed bylaws recommendation includes some significant changes to the organizational structure. To help you understand the process and to better identify the important changes, please read the accompanying Bylaws Revision Process Summary document found at the bottom of the same webpage linked above. We have also prepared a document with statements from subcommittee members about why they support, or in some cases don't support, portions of the proposed bylaws which can be found on the same webpage.
So that everyone has an opportunity to try out the Zoom platform and discuss and ask questions before the Annual Member Meeting, we are holding these two Discussion Meetings via Phone/Zoom, where you will be able to talk to several of the subcommittee members. At these meetings, we will demonstrate polling, which we will use for voting, and you will see how straightforward it is. There will be plenty of time to talk about the bylaws and for you to share your thoughts with others.
You may either access the meeting via Phone or using the Zooom app. When on the phone, you will miss seeing a visual view of all participants, but you still will be able to interact. For those with a stable internet connection, we recommend downloading the Zoom app to your desktop computer, tablet or smartphone. Please signup for a FREE account at https://www.zoomus to download your version.
